I know I don't update very often, but that's because I can never think of anything particularly pertinent to talk about. If you want, you should go check out my Diet & Exercise section, because I actually update there more often.

An interesting thing happened at my husband's job last week. His boss's boss decided that smoochin' and huggin' of spouses in the office was unprofessional and must be stopped. Christian was led to believe (after the passing of messages through the hierarchy) that someone had complained about the display of PDA, so first we though that there was some strange person who was offended by kissing. But it turns out that he just works for a bunch of goobers. A few months ago when they moved to a different office space (thus putting their project under Gestapo boss of a boss), his boss tried to tell him that he couldn't tack up a few pictures of our wedding next to his computer because they were personal effects. It was, however, ok for her to put stuff like the flag of Virginia (where she is from) because it was a "project effect." (Actually Virginia has absolutely nothing to do with their project, except for the fact that the project boss is from Virginia of course.)

I don't like my husband's job very much, mostly because stupid stuff like that happens all the time. When he first started working there three years ago, his boss was all sweetness and light and fawned over his amazing technical skills. As time passed, she began to do things like make ridiculous unattainable goals, which of course could not be reasonably reached, so she'd ask Christian to do this-and-this as the deadline approached, and he'd end up staying there two nights in a row so that it would get done. This has ruined more than one semester for him, and prevented or otherwise adversely affected several vacations, not to mention making him burnt-out all the time. I kept on trying to convince him to quit and get a job where they don't treat him like dirt, but he thinks that with his ADHD he is so lucky to have this job. So I stopped bugging him about it, but at least I can complain about it here whenever something else stupid happens.

My job is also driving me crazy, but for a completely opposite reasons. I've been working for a professor in the Mechanical Engineering department for a little over two years. He does Nondestructive Ultrasonic Testing and I work in the lab on a computer. Up until January or so, I always had at least one other coworker, sometimes even two, but now I have none. I work in this really boring windowless room at the end of some forgotten hallway that no one ever walks down and I'm going nuts. I hate being here by myself all day. It's not like I was super chatty with the other guys that worked in here when they were here, but it was nice to have another warm body there. My boss said I should bring in one of my dogs, but I don't know if he was joking or not. He hasn't hired anyone new yet, though, so I guess for now it's just me and Gordon (Lightfoot....he's a singer).

To cheer me up, Christian made me a poster with lots of cute pictures of Thistle, one of our dogs, on it. It is totally cute and does help. So today I'll leave you with the one I consider to be the cutest…

You can find more of these totally cute pictures here
